Hello,
Have a 1997 chevy blazer that sounds like a squeaky bed when I get it and out of it, while I drive it and while moving the steering wheel in a stationary position. It subsides sometimes, but come back when we hit a bump or something. I jsut had the rear shocks replaced and 4 new tires put on it and had the front end greased. The struts are approximately 2 years old. HELP!
Thank you!! :runaround:

Did you just have a quick lube place grease it? These trucks NEED to have both front tires removed to get at the lower ball joints to grease em. Most places either don't know this, or don't care. I have never seen a shop actually go through the trouble of hitting every grease point in the front of these trucks, it's just too much work for them. My truck had a terrible creeeeeeeaaak when I'd get in and out of it and when hitting bumps and when cranking the wheel, my lower balljoint was totally dry and that sound was the extreme pressure those parts are under, with no grease to help it.

Thanks so much for your help, I had the tires removed, as I got four new ones, and will ask them now if they did as you say. Thanks SO much for your help!

Not a problem, it's rare a shop will admit to forgetting to grease a fitting so you may want to have just the peice of mind of doing it yourself. It isn't terrible to do but you do need to remove the tires and have someone (safely) turn the wheel left or right to expose the fitting. If that doesn't work try getting some silicone lube and spray everything in the wheel well paying special attention to all the bushings and what not in the suspension and the control arms. I recommend silicone and not oil based because silicone won't "rot" rubber bushings. If all else fails get someone to bounce in the vehicle and listen closely to see where it's coming from. Hope you figure it out, good luck.

That's where my squeak/groan came from.

If your balljoints are squeaking, then you have more trouble then just the squeaking. Like, Chris and Canuck mentioned, this sounds most likely like its your suspension bushings, specifically your sway bar bushings, in my opinion. Using silicone is the best bet to lube them up and soften them up.

Another possible cause could be the rear leaf springs. When they get dry and dirt gets in between them, they can make noise too, something else to possibly look at too.

I just wanted to tell you thank alot, that it was the dry ball bearings and the shop that replaced my tires greased the bearings with a needle?? He said it just needed some TLC. Appreciate your sound advice, thanks again!!! have a great weekend!!
