Hi !

Because there are no saab 96 kit (as I know), I must scratch build whole car

As in my previous project, Lada 2112 1:24, I use copper and aluminium in the body. Saabs body shape is much more difficult than ladas because of its roundness. Luckily I found good blueprints.

Engine is aftermarket stuff, reji taunus v4 engine. It requires some changes, for example at gearbox , oiltank and airfilter.

And some pics...

Pictures are at least two weeks old so this projects have progressed a lot of, I have redesingnerd rear window area and saab allso have bumpers and grille now.

Wow, this is great. I had thought about scratchbuilding one of these as well, since there's never been a model of one. You should get it resin cast for others to enjoy! Nice work. I remember these cars well when I was growing up. Great little beasts for attacking snow drifts.

wow... that bodywork is phenomenal, and what a great subject! i have always liked these cars, and the old "turtleback" Volvos, which i've always thought would make a killer hot rod. (http://volvology.livejournal.com/) i saw one of these saabs just the other day; it was in top-notch condition.

Amazing scratchbuilding!
The proportions of the body looks spot on !

Could you explain more in detail how you made the body ?

[quote=spede]Some updating. Now I have made all parts, and I just need to fix the body a bit and clean some parts.

Very impressive indeed! You have quite the unusual subject matters!!! I love that.

I can't even imagine scratchbuilding an entire body... And what about the glass? How have you done it on your previous models?

The first resin copy arrived just yesterday:bananasmi

Parts looks like very good, and there are just a few bubbles.

Someone was asking about my building methods and I would really tell but my english skills are just too limited..

There are about 80-90 parts with detailing set which includes engine and small chassis parts. The basic kit ( without engineroom parts and small chassis parts)includes 37 parts.

The yellow stuff in body is putty that I used to fill air bubbles

Wow, that is stunning! You have some amazing skills there (especially considering your age).

How many hours did the body take to shape? You've made faster progress than I have with my Spyder!

Guido was in a bad hiking accident a few years ago in Belgium; he nearly died, and had a very long period of recovery, and has since stopped making patterns and resin. I believe he sold all/part of his business, but don't know for sure. He had to go back to his architecture profession. He lost some use of his hands :frown:

Would you perhaps know who bought his business and if any of his stuff is available again? I was ready to buy some of his models but i was too late...
