98 Dodge Ram 1500 318 A/C clicks on and off.Awilli 10-15-2007, 07:48 PM What could the problem be with the a/c on my 98 Dodge Ram 1500 318 Auto tran. The compressor is steady clicking on and off at idol and if I rev. the engine and hold it. I checked the pressure but it goes up and down with the cycling of the compressor. It never has cooled very good, but now it hardly seems to cool at all. It seems this started after I went through a pretty deep puddle, did I knock out a switch in one of the lines or something. any way to check these to rule it out? HEMIDAZE 10-15-2007, 08:41 PM There is a switch in line near your compressor that turns off the compressor when the refridgerant is low. Unplug the switch and jump it to check. Awilli 10-15-2007, 09:22 PM I'll try that in the a.m. Thanks for the quick response. I figure it has enough charge since it goes up to 45 pounds when the compressor clicks off (I quess that would be),but then goes right back to around 5 or 10 when it clicks on. I just drove it to town a minute ago about 15 miles round trip. It was clicking on and off the whole way there and back. Is that going to damage the compressor running it like that? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
