I'm cleaning up my steering shaft (between gear box and where it attaches to the steering column). The rubber boot around the joint at the point where it attaches to the column is ripped and dry and old. Which parts of this unit are replaceable and how do you get the shaft (which slides in and out which was nice for removing it and putting it back in) apart so I can get the plastic cover off it and clean and paint whatever needs it?

That upper joint may be a dealer-only item (and maybe only as part of the steering shaft). I can't recall seeing an aftermarket replacement, but you might check with a shop which sells Moog parts.
