Gas Tank Heat Shield RattleTodd1963 10-06-2007, 06:58 PM Hi folks I put Bilstein heavy-duty shocks and an aftermarket Addco sway bar on my '96 Classic this week and boy what an improvement in handling. Drove it 300 miles yesterday - best highway car I've ever owned. I am looking to get rid of the last rear-end rattle in the car, which I think is coming from the heat shield that protects the poly gas tank from the exhaust. I got under the car and checked it, and it's not loose. But it does have enough play that at low speed on sharp bumps I think it is responsible for the clanging sound. Has anyone else run into this and are there any fix suggestions out there? GreyGoose006 10-07-2007, 04:50 PM you dont want to get rid of the heat shield tho. it will keep your tank safe. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
