I have a brake question for anyone. In 49000 miles my brake pads on front have been replaced 2 times after the factory ones and the front rotors have been turned twice, and need it again. My steering wheel shimmies when I press on brakes at highway speeds. Is there a brand of rotor that will stop this from happening so often, basically turning rotors every 17000 miles with new pads every other time or so. This really getting old for a car with so few miles to already need new rotors in less than 50000 miles.

Unfortunately what you are experiencing is normal for some owners depending on the usage. I've bought 'premium' rotors and pads and still had the rotors warp and bought the least expensive Chinese made rotors and had them last a long time. It's luck of the draw really. Anymore, I buy the least expensive rotors/drums, and decent quality ceramic pads. I usually go Napa, Carquest, Autozone, Advance Auto. If you live in the rust belt, one thing you can do to prolong the life of your pads/rotors/calipers is do a yearly brake disassemble and cleaning of the pad slides. Keep the pads floating as they should and the whole system will last.

I'd like to comment this;

I was running the 'economy' rotors from carquest with 'economy' organic pads with no problems. Even wear, no fading and enough bite with my conservative driving habits.

When the organic pads wore out I had the rotors turned and replaced the pads with raybestos full ceramics 'oe' as per napa.

The ceramic pads ate up my cheapy rotors.
