HELP! burned wires- steering colum 72'59'Fury 11-26-2002, 05:30 PM Here's the deal. 1972' Coronet - I was driving down the street, and a puff of smoke came up around the base of the steering wheel. I noted the ampmeter swung to "discharge". The problem: How do I get the steering colum apart to rewire? I see no screws on the back side of the wheel, and the car is a 55,000 original mile beauty, so I don't want to start prying on things, with out a clue as to how to get her open. Anyone who has taken these apart, please respond... Thanks, 59'Fury :) KPR22 10-09-2003, 11:27 AM Here's the deal. 1972' Coronet - I was driving down the street, and a puff of smoke came up around the base of the steering wheel. I did figure out that the plastic steering wheel center lifts out fairly easily - sort of a "snap together" thing - and this exposes the hub nut... but in a year, that's as far as I've gotten... one day soon, as my wife wants to start driving her "real" car again! So, what did you find when you got into yours, KPR22? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
