Hi!

First, check engine light went on but since there was no other issues I was driving it maybe week or so. One day, when driving home I started sense smell of cooling fluid inside the car, so I stopped it and found gasket blowed out under pipe next to the water pump. Because leek was not big and I was close to home I decided to drive home. That time I saw left side fan was working. Next day I replaced gasket and check code - it was #15, so I started to look for other cooling related problem and found cracked plastic housing of temp. sensor located on side of the thermostat so, I replaced it. I also found so rad. fans don't work at all. also with turned on A/C, but when I was checking CES light code, both fans were on. Why fans don't work?!?! Cooling fluid is circulating because heating system is blowing hot air inside the car and also return hose from thermostat to radiator is becoming hot just minutes after starting engine.
Can someone help me find problem?

This is a little hard to understand. Are you saying that the left side fan doesn't run most of the time? Only time you've seen both fans running was when you were checking for codes? A while back I noticed that only the right fan on my car was running. We let the car run for several minutes trying to make it run warm, so that both fans would turn on. However it never came on. I don't think there is anything wrong here. I could be wrong, but if your second fan kicked on while you were working, then it seems to me like it is working. Did both fans just stop working???

Sorry for not being clear. Here it is:Last time I saw left side fan working, it was before I replaced gasket, when I stopped to check for leak. Since than, only time when I saw any fan working, was when I was reading codes by short circuit of terminals A and B of the OBD connector - both fans are working with full speed during reading. Turning on A/C does not turning on fans. My car does not have a temp. gauge so I'm not sure if I'm not overheating it, since CEL is coming on after 1/2hr of driving and code is #15. I did replace temp. sensor on the side of thermostat, everything else looks ok.

Today I replaced the temp. sending unit/switch (with one wire), but the fans still don't work when I turn on the A/C. I will try to heat up the engine tomorrow. Can someone tell me if the fans should start just after turning on the A/C, no matter if the engine is hot or cold? I'm positive it happens with a Toyota Corolla, but I not sure about the Lumina.

Well, still this same. When driving about 20-30 min. CES light goes on with code #15. When I'm driving this same distance with heat on, CES light does not turn on. Fans are working only wher I'm reading code. Can someone hlep me find out why fans are not working and why red temp. light is off if engine is overheating????
