Knock noise from engine hemank 09-25-2007, 07:49 PM
hey i have a xv10 95 2.2L Front Wheel drive toyota camry, which seems to make a knock noise or a soft thud after i accelerate. This happens normally when i accelerate slowly and release the gas pedal.. The car has done about 100,000kms (62137Miles). Does anyone know what the problem is?? Thanks hemank 09-25-2007, 07:57 PM wups sorry for double post...my internet screwed up xfeejayx 09-25-2007, 08:39 PM motor mount, likely one towards the front end. A link to the manual for your car should be stickied at the top of the Camry forum. Read that first, as it will help you locate and inspect it (i think). If not, come on back. hemank 09-25-2007, 08:59 PM so its not a serious problem and sorry where is the manual?? thanks alot Mike Gerber 09-26-2007, 04:00 PM so its not a serious problem and sorry where is the manual?? thanks alot Here are the manuals: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=497839 Mike xfeejayx 09-26-2007, 05:53 PM I wouldn't schedule my week around it, but I would not put it off too long either. Get it done at your earliest convenience, but don't wait more than a month or so. hemank 09-26-2007, 06:48 PM thanks guys for the help...ill try to fix it...but i have had this problem for the past 4 months now..will this damage the engine?? thanks heaps xfeejayx 09-26-2007, 10:23 PM i know people who have driven longer than that with a bad mount. won't really hurt the engine, but might hurt things the engine connects to, or the connections between them. I believe (not sure) this can damage the trans, trans housing, or the seal between the engine and the trans. hemank 09-26-2007, 11:40 PM thanks guys..i thought all along it was the timing belt tht needed replacing...im gonna chek up on it this weekend, did a scan and saw one bracket free near the air filter, so i am guessin the engine has shifted off the mount...oh one more qu, how much do you think it will cost me to get it fixed from a local mechanic including the mounts and labour?? thanks again Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
