98 expedition motor stalls when idlesearcutter 09-21-2007, 02:56 PM unless your pressing on the gas motor stalls, starts fine but instantly dies, so I got on here and see that the air idle control valve is my likely problem. So I get one today and it does no good same thing, so I unhook the hose that goes from the aic to the intake right in front of the throttle body and it actually runs although rough, that hose is sucking air which I presume is right, any ideas what I should look at next I also checked the mass air flow and it was clean not dirty any help would be appreciated. thanks kruser 10-30-2007, 10:06 PM unless your pressing on the gas motor stalls, starts fine but instantly dies, so I got on here and see that the air idle control valve is my likely problem. If you have the V8 then it has a hose that goes bad just below the IAC valve. It is a big hose and maybe 5/8 diameter or bigger. You could have other problems also as the IAC should adjust for the above problems. Gevans17 03-25-2008, 06:54 PM Bad I A C V guangong 04-05-2008, 12:01 PM Had this problem a couple of times. Both times it was a hole in a rubber grommet that connected hoses to the pcv. Easy fix.
