Transmission going into neutral while drivingvoigt 09-19-2007, 03:59 PM I have a problem with my transmission on my 91 dodge grand caravan going into neutral while I am driving down the highway. Some times it will slip out of the top gear and only work in the first 3 (I think there are 4 gears). I stop the car turn it off turn it on and it works again. I have tried to isolate when it happens, but there is no pattern. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks RIP 09-19-2007, 06:34 PM The fact when you restart it works fine makes me lean towards something electrical, possibly the solenoid pack. First step would be change the fluid and filter. Have you checked for fault codes? voigt 09-20-2007, 07:23 AM transmission fluid and filter were changed about a year ago and still looks good. I have not checked for codes yet. I will both check codes and the electrical thanks. RIP 09-20-2007, 04:33 PM Hope you didn't use Dexron fluid. caravandrvr 09-24-2007, 05:11 PM The fact when you restart it works fine makes me lean towards something electrical,... Agreed - I'd bet on it. ....possibly the solenoid pack. First step would be change the fluid and filter. Have you checked for fault codes? If it looks electrical why mess with the fluid at this point? I've seen this behavior before and it turned out to be a faulty ECM, but there are many less expensive sensors that may not throw codes but still cause issues that I'd start with first. and yes, I hope that fluid change didn't introduce Dexron! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
