play in shaft coming out of transmission, very noticeable at very low speed, when shaft movement is slapping back and forward. Shaft play was confirmed by raising front of car and rotating either wheel back and forward. Slack easily seen. Not a problem at highway speeds. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM, AND REPAIR PROCEDUTE?

On each driveaxle there is a boot on both sides, an inner and an outer. There is a driveaxle on the drivers side and the passengers side. Where specifically is this play? Left side? Right side? Inner? Outer? Normally you can test by having shifting from drive to reverse, you'll hear a clunk sound. What specifically do you mean by slack? If your driveaxles are the problem try to baby them.
