94 Olds starts and run for 20 sec and dies

I bought a 94 olds. I have changed the fuel pump and the car will start and run for 10 - 20 sec and die. Any ideas on what it is and or to start diagnosis?

Have you been able to get any error codes? On my 1990 there is a connector under drivers side of the dash near the steering column. I think yours should be in the same place. (olds changed a few things in 1994 though I think) If so, it should be rectangular in shape. The connector is lettered A-B-C-D and if you jump A-B with a paper clip or some kind of wire the check engine light should flash. Count the flashes and tell us the number. :)

Welcome to AF. Do you have spark when it dies, will it start spraying carb cleaner into the intake?

Different connector obdII? Acts like it runs out of gas but it's not. Also I checked the battery and it's bad.

battery might do it... also a really plugged up fuel filter might. you should get autozone to do a diagnostic on the computer, or if you can't get the vehicle to an autozone purchase, and return one once your finished with it. or you could keep it and save it for your next car
