Yokohama Parada Spec 2Dinzdale40 11-23-2002, 09:37 PM Has anyone had any experience with these tires? Do they last longer than other low profile tires? How much more do they cost? From what I've read about them, they are the tire for me. They look nice and have an aggressive tread. But they aren't as sticky as they look. This way they last longer, being harder. SportCompactCar said they are a good show tire that performs well but isn't a racing tire. Is my thinking correct on this? delsolsi 11-24-2002, 04:08 AM I don't have any experience with these tires, but a friend of mine had them and he was really happy with them. I'd trust just about anything Sport Compact Car had to say, from my experience reading their mag there almost always right on with what they say. I know some peopel who used the Paradas and Paradas Spec II. They were ok on the street but for competition they sucked worse than the Kumho 712. Definitely better tires out there for the money. Dinzdale40 11-25-2002, 08:26 AM I'm not going to race them. I need to know if they will last longer. CivicSiRacer 11-25-2002, 02:11 PM Originally posted by Dinzdale40 I'm not going to race them. If the tread wear rating is higher than the original Paradas they should last longer. strodda 11-25-2002, 02:28 PM just check tirerack, they have all the ratings. if you want to stay with yoko's, there are some with higher treadwear, but im sure you'll give up a little traction. Dinzdale40 11-25-2002, 07:38 PM Thanks guys, appreciate all your opinions, these tires seem to be the ones for me. So I"ll go for it. dgonzals 11-26-2002, 08:44 AM tires101.com --->lots of info on tires there......hope that helps.... Civic98 11-27-2002, 01:53 AM i have had those tires on my 18's i had em bout 2 months ago but i took off my rims about 2 days ago for winter and i like those tires man i think they're good and they're racing tires too CivicSiRacer 11-27-2002, 05:30 PM Originally posted by Civic98 i like those tires man i think they're good and they're racing tires too They are NOT racing tires. What ever gave you that idea? Duatone 11-28-2002, 02:29 PM they're good and they're racing tires too haha, yeah man, those are definetly not your tires of choice for racing. yeah, so they have a better grip with the monster grooves and new silica compound, but thats traction for weather conditions. I had the spec I's and I had bought all new spec II's right when they came out before they did the testing and they were producing adds on them, I guess i got them at the right time, but anyways, the spec II's have way better grip than the originals, but like they say, they're a show tire with SOME street grip. otherwise why dont you see parada slicks?? By the way,Dinzdale40, I have bought all my tires from WhalenTire.com, and haven't had any probs yet, not to mention they were cheaper than any other tire shop i went to. I paid about $540 for a set of 4 (215/35-18) but like i said, this was right when they first came out so the price was a little lower than a month down the road. Dinzdale40 11-29-2002, 07:55 PM I looked on Whalentires.com and couldn't find them for my car in the 17". I remember seeing these tires in many different sizes. Does this mean that Whalen doesn't carry these? I know a guy who can order them who won't tip me off too bad. He's cool so I don't care about a bit of cash. Duatone 11-29-2002, 09:51 PM I had done some searching and for decent prices it was whalen, and they charge $30 shipping on my set of 4 tires, it went from west coast to east coast and at my front door in about 2.5 days from order date....the other place i found that had about the same prices was discount Tire..since they have free shipping, they were charging ruffly $30 more...so it was a 50/50 chance. drift 11-30-2002, 06:32 AM yokohama doesnt make a "racing" tyre. they all suck equally on the track. as for a street tyre, with the rep they have with the last parada and AV series, you'd be better equipped with skis when it rains. admit it. you're buying it only for the goofy lookin tread design. Duatone 11-30-2002, 08:07 PM Actually, I drive in the rain a lot of the times, and i have found these spec II's by far better grip than say, FZ4's. yeah, the tread design is pretty cool, but try it before you bash it. Yokohama makes the A032R a great entry racing tire. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
