Welcome to AF. Put a scanner on it for starters and see if you have cranking rpms, if it came in running recheck your work around the balancer, also the wiring from the cps to the module

Thanks maxwedge, Bviper posted the above posting at my suggestion, we feel like McQueen [Bullet] hitting the bulldozer. I own the 88 and brought it in last week to replace a noisy a/c comp. showing metal shards. Car started up after repair and mech. heard more noise from same area, the harmonic balancer. Replaced with new unit, car cranks easly, no vroooom. Mech checked contacts and sensor clearance, fuses and fuse links, continuity of wires and finally found 3rd wire from left [as you look from front of engine] from harm-bal. sensor showed no value. Replaced sensor. Car cranks, no vrooom. Injecters all have pulse, swapped 6 coil block that goes to plugs [yeah, I know there's a name for it, but I work with energy medicine, not 12 volt sys.] with one from working engine. Car cranks, ............. Started troubleshooting as if car just came in and wouldn't start, poured over schematics and now, the dozer just got pushed back a few feet. Some other info; No communication to dianostic scanner

No quick answer here, if the injectors pulse as seen with a noid lite and you have spark, it should start, assuming there is fuel pressure at the rail, this requires plain old on site diagnostics, someone is missing something basic here.

Thanks for the responce maxwedge, but there is no spark at the plugs, which was stated in the 1st entry and I also said in my first entry [3rd on forum] we switched the coil/dist. pack with one from a working engine with no luck. Yesterday we pulled the computer and c-15,d-2 have good values, good contacts, good solder throughout. Even used spare key [chipped] out of desperation, engine spins, no ignition in cylinders. All grounds are good. Please don't give up on me. Also, can you think of why there is no communication between car and diagnostic unit. Thanks, Handshannon. Any one else with ideas?

All the fuses are checked, correct?, 12v to the pink wire at the module?, do you mean the scanner will not display any info? How did you check for injector pulse? If the scanner will not lite up the cigar liter fuse would be at fault, but that would not affect the no start.

Thanks, that is probably the answer for the scanner not showing anything. I remember the cigar ligther does not work even though the car ran, possibly in-line fuse or connection. The mech. checked many contacts, the fuses, got 3-6 & 12 volt readings where called for, cam sensor to injectors and feed to computer with a hand held unit. We've have come to the conclusion that with the fuel side live it is either the crank sensor, coil pack, or ignition. We changed the coil pack with one we know that works, so thats out. Nothing in ignition was touched but a friend is going to let us swap the comp to eliminate that mon. or tues.. We are going to put in a 2nd new crank sensor on monday in case the one we got from distributor is bad. I really suspect that may be the culprit. Anymore insight ? I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the ligther info, Hands.
