99 malibu will not startjustlost1000 09-12-2007, 06:14 PM had transmission rebuilt 400 mi ago. Now the car will not start. Have changed fuel pump, fuel pump relay, and crankshaft position sensor. After each item was changed car would run but then stall out and not restart. when attempting to start fuel pump is not turning on. any help would be appreciated. taillight 09-13-2007, 09:44 AM Are you getting 12 volts to the fuel pump when you turn the key to start ? justlost1000 09-15-2007, 02:38 PM It is reading around 8 volts at the connection taillight 09-16-2007, 08:13 AM Needs 12 +. You must have a bad connection or relay droping voltage. justlost1000 09-16-2007, 12:56 PM would a bad ground connection cause the voltage drop? It has a new fuel pump relay installed. Where else would I have a bad connection or did the transmission shop pinch a wire bundle somewhere? taillight 09-16-2007, 02:14 PM Sounds like the pinch could be shorting. Good place to look at anything they did. justlost1000 09-16-2007, 03:36 PM just got done ckecking the grounds and cleaning them. Still only getting 11 volts but it is not stedy flucuates down to 7. Fuel pump still not turning on. taillight 09-16-2007, 04:25 PM You have a loose connection someplace. With your voltmeter work from the pump to the relay and to the fuse and see where you are loosing the voltage. justlost1000 09-16-2007, 07:12 PM I have 12.27 volts at battery and 11.2 volts where fuel pump connects taillight 09-17-2007, 08:25 AM That is to much voltage loss. Get a wiring diagram(Haynes) and follow the fuel pump wire to where you still have over 12 volts and where you have less than 12 volts. It will be in between those 2 points. Speedy_1234 09-25-2007, 08:36 AM What about the relay under the hood, battery is working right check the ground cables besides the one that is connected to the battery Where did you by the fuel pump from Also did you connect right the connections on the fuel pump what about the check engine light is it on justlost1000 09-28-2007, 11:08 AM getting no voltage to fuel pump Speedy_1234 09-28-2007, 01:31 PM relay justlost1000 09-29-2007, 06:18 PM finally found a gounding block that the transmission place left unattached on backside of engine block. Car is running fine and all warning lights are off again. Thanks for all the advice and help. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
