I have a 98 taurus, 3.0 OHV. 170K miles. I've scanned it with no codes. EVerything works good except the engine is slow to return to idle. If you crack the throttle in neutral the engines very slow to return to idle. It does this while driving also. When you let off the accelerator the car doesn't slow down very much. Almost no engine braking. Thanks for your advice.

I'd suggest you start by pulling the air intake tube from the throttle body, open the throttle plate, and inspect for carbon build-up. If you find a fair amount, get some STP throttle body cleaner (best stuff I've used) and clean the intake. While you're at it, you may as well pull the Idle Air Control (IAC) and clean it as well.

Rod, Thanks for the reply, I'll give it a try today and post the results. Hopefully it's as simple as a good cleaning.
