Update (9/10/07):

When I pulled it to have tires changed, there was only air bag light on, nothing else. But after that, everything comes back on. Up to now, it is fine. Do I still have to change the Lock Cylinder any way?

Thanks for any idea, friends.

Tom

Bear and Vipergg,

thank you very much. I will try to replace it this weekend. Will post if it solves the problem.

Tom

Friends,

My 2000 Grand Caravan (80K Miles) just had its transmission rebuilt two months ago.

Now the steering wheel locks up frequently, key won't turn, shift indication (P, R, N, L, etc) sometimes lost from the panel after switchings, and things worse now are no power windows/radio/air-conditioning/turning-signals ... almost nothing on, instead the brake/ABS/air-bag lights are always on,

only horn still works and van still runs.

Please help!!!

Thank you very much in advance.

If jiggling the steering wheel while trying to turn the key does not unlock things i suspect your ignition key lock cylinder is bad or going bad. replacing the cylinder is not a tough job, remove the trim around the steering column to expose the lock cylinder, turn key to on (not start) and then look under the lock cylinder and you ill see a piece of metal or plastic sticking out from under the cylinder, take a screwdriver and push the exposed piece up while pulling on the key and the cylinder should come out, go to a dealer and buy a new cylinder and then get it re-keyed. Reinstall is just, key to on, line up the lock cylinder so the exposed piece will drop into its' opening when the cylinder is pushed back in, push the cylinder back in and you are in business.

If you are going to try this yourself make sure to disconnect the battery , you don't need an airbag blowing up in your face while working on it!!!!!!!!!!
