Cranks More paxfam1 09-05-2007, 01:45 AM
I have a 91 silverado with 5.7 Recently installed a Remote Starting device on my truck which functions great. Only problem I am having is when the motor is cold it has to crank more for some reason. When the truck has been driven its starts fine. This is not a huge problem becuase the starter attemps to start like 4 times and it always gets it the second time. But when I show the remote starting feature off to my friends I feel stupid when It doesnt start on the first attemps. I have dont a full tune up recently and its running great. It just appears that more cranking is required at cold start and I would like to fix that. Also would it be a good idea to change fluid in the diffrentials and the transfercase? If so how much fliud capacity and what kind? taillight 09-05-2007, 08:42 AM Put on a fuel pressure guage and test the pressure when trying to start with the remote. bigcoconut 09-05-2007, 10:19 AM I've got a 92 that does the same thing, cold start takes two hits to get running. I figure its the vacuum, the truck is old it has some vacuum leaks I'm sure. The fuel pressure is fine while running but I've never checked it at start up. Just put a brand new pump in not too long ago and last weekend did a major tune-up, including re-building the TBI. Can the fuel pressure in the lines drop when not running for a period of time? Could this cause the delay in starting when cold? I've got no fuel leaking anywhere that I know of. taillight 09-05-2007, 10:26 AM Put a pressure guage on and watch to see if the pressure drops with the engine off.
