I am trying to sell my 98 LTZ. Some people came back after a test drive and now it will not close all the way. I have had problems in the past, but a little assistance and it always closed.
I can hear the motor or somthing grinding like a gear is worn out. I can see that the left side goes all the way forward on the track and starts to lower, but the right side will not lower at all when it gets all the way forward.
Has anyone seen this?
I have put a lot of money into this car over the last year, so if I can just get it closed I will be satisfied. It has some engine problems so if I can get $1000 for it I would be satisfied.

http://www.sunroofdoctor.com/9599montecarlo.htm Problem is possibly the plastic lifts or guides on the sunroof. This COULD be the problem since you can still hear the motor trying to work. Check out the link. It's a bit pricey, but a buyer would more than likely pay more if the sunroof actually worked. That link provides a couple of options for solving the sunroof issue.

I bet you could get more than the $1000 you want for the car. What kind of options does it have, what color, mileage, etc.? Also, what are these "engine problems?"

I defenitely cant afford to put that kind of time or money into the car. I have already done an intake and lifters and I am not even driving it anymore. But yes, I do know it will be much easier to sell with a working sunroof.

The car has 129k miles, dark green, leather seats, k&n filter, remote starter.

The car has an engine tapping (almost a knocking) once it gets warmed up. It is, however, silent when the engine is cold. Nobody seems to know what the problem is, I've had a few places look at it.

It's a shame to sell it anyways. Everything was great until about 4000 miles ago.
