98 Dodge Intrepid Rack & Pinionhandieeeeee 09-03-2007, 07:29 PM I need to replace my rack and pinion. Any suggestions and as to who to purchase it from and any specialty tools I will need to purchase along with it? taillight 09-04-2007, 09:17 AM A manual with step by step will help. handieeeeee 09-04-2007, 09:20 AM Can you recommend a good manual for this? taillight 09-04-2007, 09:58 AM Try the internet. You might find a how to replace a rack. Book stores also can order manuals. handieeeeee 09-04-2007, 10:22 AM I have tried the internet and so far have not had any luck. I'll try the bookstore and see what I can find. handieeeeee 09-05-2007, 11:43 AM My intrepid squeals whenever I turn right but stops when I go left. Why? Could that be the rack and pinion? I was told that the rack and pinion was causing that, but it sounds more like wheel bearings to me. taillight 09-06-2007, 08:28 AM Without being able to hear it, it is very hard to tell. You might want to take it to someone you trust for an opinion. Don't replace parts you don't need. handieeeeee 09-06-2007, 04:21 PM I tried the book store and couldn't find anything. The people I trust the most are the ones that told me it's the rack and pinion. I did just look at http://autorepair.about.com/cs/troubleshooting/a/aa042101a_3.htm It sounds like they are probably right. Now I just need to figure out who sells them and if there is a newer better model. taillight 09-07-2007, 08:48 AM Try a manual called Haynes manuals. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
