Ok... THis car is starting to really piss me off. I bought this thing off of my aunt and got a good deal on it. I went to get this thing inspected and it failed because the Check Engine Light does not work. It doesn't come on or anything. The car had the PO113 code so the wiring harness was replaced and that is fixed. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what this problem may be? Everything works fine and all the codes have been cleared. Evidently Delaware likes to be hardheaded about this and everything else is a total breeze. I have taken cars through with holes in the exhaust system and gotten them passed. THe car was tagged in Maryland which is known for tough inspection practices, so I don't understand how this stupid thing passed in Maryland.

Thanks for any help
Mike

So the CEL light does or does not work ?
Umm I think the inspection in MD they just hooked their computer to your cars computer and then turned the ignition to on w/o starting the car. I think all they look for is codes or pending codes. I have a power tuner and with that I can set that the CEL does not come on. I do not think that a tech with a tech2 scan tool can do that. A tech with a tech2 scan tool can turn the cel on to see if it is functioning correctly so you may want to take it in. You could also do something like turn off your ignition, then unplug your EGR, then run the car see if it sets a code and the cel, then turn off the ign and plug the egr back in , may take a while. day or so for the cel to go on / back out.

P0113 = Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input

In regards to the CEL not lighting, check your fuses. The CEL itself is usually tied into something else. I've seen GM's with the CEL tied into the accessory 12v port circuit. If you plug something too big into that cig lighter & blow the fuse, you loose the CEL too.
