Ok here goes.

RULES:

You must not use computer software to enhance your images. You must only use mediums such as 2B Pencil, Pen etc.
Your design(s) must be based on the 1960 - 1970 supercars, You know, the wedge shaped ones.

For those of you who may have misunderstood this, you are designing a car based around the 60's and 70's supercars. It can be a modern day version, or a car to rival the cars at the time.

And dont forget, have fun!

hey i have a question can you modify the car a little. Ohh and does the ferrari 288 gto count i dont think it does but just asking.:grinyes:

I had the same ????. Does are drawing have to have period exact parts. such as wheels and tires. Lights front n rear. Just makin sure ahead of time.

im far from an authority figure, round here. but i believe its open 2 n-e 1 to enter. as long as u r an af member. an the fact that u can post answers that.

haven't done anything like this for nearly 10 years now since starting "doing stuff" with bricks and mortar and now everytime I just sketch a 60s/70s style car, it looks like either a LP400 countach, a Ford GT or an E-Type....

I said I'll post what I got up to when I had time so here they are.
This is probably the first car related thing I've posted here (I once posted a few portraits I did).

I first started by sketching out typical 70s style shapes to get a feel for how things looked. I know that in particular, the wedge shape was emphasised but I have a fondness for the voluptuous curves of the 60s sports cars.

With the wedge in mind, I took to playing around with it, taking note of certain motifs (like the flat surface meeting a curved surface) and just let my pen wander.

As it's hard to judge a sketch when there are so many layers of lines laid over each other, I took a clean page and put everything I had done onto a single cleaner drawing, at the same time, juggling around with proportions possible according to car layout.

As I said earlier, everything I drew with classic wedge in mind has a habit of ending up looking like a Countach. For laughs I felt like adding the generic parts bin tail lights and wing mirrors that everyone used in the 70s.

Because of the Countach syndrome, i decided to take a break from the wegdge and if you look at the bottom of the previous drawing, you'll see a little sketch of a design that has tail fins which brings me back to the 60s where cars like the Aston db4 gt and Ferrari 250 are key designs. You'll also notice on the first page I did some sketches of that sort of design but with mid-engined in mind. I took that idea and did a rough drawing just to see if the proportions worked.

Wasn't 100% happy with the coupe design and the tail fins just don't look quite right on such a rounded shape so off they went and off with the top.

Looked better I think; not as distinct but cleaner. Couldn't help but think how the engine was going to be fed fresh air so I arbitarily plonked an elise shaped vent on the rear wing. Looks awful but that would've been something I would've worked on had I more time.

And that's it.
Maybe next time, I can put more time and finish something properly.
