97 cavalier misfire, engine lite blink Stuart6 08-27-2007, 07:41 PM
I have a 97 cavalier and the number 2 cylinder is misfiring, and the engine lite is blinking....I changed both ignition coils and the ignition modual, plugs and wires and still no improvment...I am going to set the $#@!@ thing on fire soon. Any help would be greatly appreaciated. Stu:banghead: ChemMan 08-27-2007, 08:50 PM Engine light blinking means that there are trouble codes. Get the codes read first before replacing stuff. Take your time and troubleshoot properly, otherwise you'll have an empty wallet AND a messed up car.:naughty: RedWind 08-28-2007, 06:22 PM I also have the same problem with 97 cavalier 2.2L but the lite dont blink and the code is random missfire and I have replaced the spark plugs and wires taillight 08-29-2007, 09:35 AM Could be a fuel injector problem. jakegday 08-29-2007, 05:05 PM I am going to set the $#@!@ thing on fire soon. you're allowed to say fucking..... sclrh2o 12-07-2007, 09:41 AM Did you figure out the problem? I've got the same issues spudracer73 12-11-2007, 01:03 AM if the engine light blinks when the car is running, it means that there is a misfire bad enough to cause the catalytic converter to be destroyed. when i was in college for automotive technology this was one of the big issue we tapped on. we would induced a bad misfire and do all sorts of diagnostics with different tools ranging from spark testers up to osciloscopes. i am not trying to be a know-it-all, just wanted to give my opinion. any way, any books about emissions will give you this info.
