transmission and coolent fluid leaking...

Yesterday when I was driving my car, when i stepped on the gas pedal I could feel the car revving but it wasn't going any where then all of a sudden it would jerk and go ahead...

It did this a few times then I decided this isn't normal..so I got out of my car to check the hood...as soon as i opened my car door i saw a trail of fluid ...from the road to where I parked..

So i peeked under the hood and green stuff and red stuff was leaking on to the ground. Oh damn..

I jumped in the car trying to head back to my place but I stalled about 2 min..I could feel the car revving but it wasn't going any where..so I had to push the car to a parking lot.

When I got my car to my apt, I checked the transmission fluid as well my coolant..both were bone dry

I think I need a new transmission ...not sure..

any one can give any clues what it might be? its in the shop now..i want to look smart when they give me the estimate..thanks

okay. i know what it is, im not sure if itll help you.

youre radiator broke/sprung a leak.

transmission fluids flow through the radiator at the bottom (different core from the coolant core) to cool it down.

both being dry means that somehow you had a total radiator failure.. where the coolant core AND the trans core was ruptured.. both fluids gone out, no more fluids.

now:

im not sure if filing up your tranny will make it wrok again, its worht a shot.

as long as you didnt run the engine for a long time AFTER you lost coolant (engine warp as they get overheated) then it SHOULD be okay.

try check! get new rad core, and you should get the transmission flushed to get rid of all the metal shavings you likely have from running w. no trnas fluid + some water that might ahve found its way into the trans.

estimate, prolly a couple hundred for the radiator..but they might charge you extra for flushing/filling trans.. just try get the rad fixed, fill it up yourself, if it still doesnt work, youre gonna have to get the radiator filled back up.

you will need to change:
upper/lower rad hoses
radiator
MAYBE coolant lines/trans line depending on if they were cut or not
parts : prolly around 2-300 if just for those
