99 GP GT: Axle Shaft Removal Qeippermx 08-25-2007, 02:21 PM Looking for an alternate method a forum member has used to successfully remove the passenger side inner CV joint/axle shaft from their 3.8 GT. I'm trying to skirt around :evillol: having to to go out and buy an equivalent GM J-33008 axle shaft remover and the slide hammer to pull it from the transmission; tools that would rarely be used by me. Any advice would be appreciated! :ylsuper: BNaylor 08-25-2007, 08:00 PM Best not to waste any money on the special tools. Using a crowbar or pry bar, pry carefully and gently between the final drive housing and the surface of the inner cv joint. The axle shaft should pop out. Also, have a pan under there to catch the tranny fluid. ericn1300 08-26-2007, 12:33 AM you can also check with Autozone parts stores, they lend specialized tools fo no charge as long as you bring them back intact. You have to post a security deposit first last time I checked. When tool is returned and in same condition before loaned out then you will get your money back. :2cents: vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
