Hey guys! (waves to fishes)
I have a 94 manual trans with about 142,000 miles on it.
I'm not sure if the timing belt was ever replaced. how can you
tell if you need a new one? does it make noises, rev high, or squeel when
your about to change gears??
help!

It's pretty hard to tell if you need a new one. You usually don't get any warning until it breaks or some cogs start falling off, which is usually to late. Some people have been lucky and made it to over 200Kmiles before changing, but if it goes it's almost a garanteed motor swap.

Yup. Change that belt ASAP before it breaks and ruins your engine. Come on over to NPORA for detailed info on how to do it yourself if you're so inclined.

Unless you have a 4 cylinder, that would be a no on the timing chain. The the V6 have belts and the fours have chains.
