sometimes i hear a clickin from top of motorbratt 08-22-2007, 04:55 PM i have a 93 ranger and 93 explorer sometimes while driving both of them i can hear something vibrating on the top of the motor. I think it might be the lifter pushrod / rockerarms. My ranger never made that noise untill i blew the head gasket and water got in the oil. Does anyone know what that noise is? I dont think its the bearings. Its not knocking. Would I have to replace the lifters and rocker arms if they were worn too much? is there a simple way to end the noise? EvanM07 08-22-2007, 05:50 PM Whats your engine size? If its a 2.8/2.9 V6 you might want to check this out. http://www.rangerpowersports.com/forum/showthread.php?t=139839 bratt 08-22-2007, 10:11 PM explorer is a 3.0 v6 the ranger is a 4.0 v6 EvanM07 08-23-2007, 02:32 PM Well anyway I have found that you get more ranger specific help over at rangerpowersprts.com than here. No offense to anyone here but it seems to be mroe help on those forums. goldberg_52403 08-23-2007, 03:32 PM I doubt this is the problem, but my 2.3 was clicking when I accelerated and eventually my timing belt snapped. Still trying to get it running, but it may be worth a glance. bratt 08-23-2007, 06:30 PM the v6 models have timing chains on the 3.0 and 4.0 I doubt the chain is clicking. it sounds like pushrod vibration bratt 08-24-2007, 09:27 PM I got under the truck while it was running. The noise seems to be coming from the oil pan area. Now Im almost sure its the rod bearings. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
