1997 Malibu radio displaying LOC

I have been trying to get the radio on my 1997 Malibu unlocked, but I can't seem to get anywhere with it.

I have attempted to follow the instrctions from many websites, but I am at a stand still.

I have held down the 1 & 4 buttons for 10 seconds, and held 2 & 3 for 10 seconds, but it doesn't display the code.

I have read a lot of these sites and they are all saying the same thing, but as many times as I have tried, nothing seems to work.

Am I doing something wrong?

Is there another method of getting the 6 digit code that I can't seem to find.

Thanks.

I've heard of people selling stuff like dealer codes on e-bay but my guess is that it's the same info that you already know. Then again it may be worth sending them an e-mail. Otherwise I hate to say this but if you exhausted every other avenue, you may have to go see Mr. Goodwrench.

Try this:
1). Press and Hold presets 2 and 3 for 10 seconds untill 3 digits are displayed. These three digits are the first three you will need. Example: 123
2). Then, Press the AM/FM button, another set of 3 digits will be displayed, you will need these three also. Example: 456
3). Call 1-800-537-5140. This is automated and used for different tasks. Enter 139010 followed by *...Then you need to enter the 6 digits from the earlier steps. Example: 123456 followed by *. You will recieve an unlock code.
4) By pressing the Hour button, you can enter the first two numbers given to you. Then, press the minute button to enter the next two numbers.
5). Press AM/FM, this should do it.
6). To avoid this happening whenever power is lost, you can enter the unlock code again and you should see a series of dashes across the display.

It is also possible that too many attempts were made and it could lock up, although I've always been able to unlock them.

P.S. I just went out and tried it on mine and the numbers worked. When you call the 1-800 number, you can enter the numbers you got from the radio right away. Should work.
