Front end Tire noise, I Think??? ChevyMan34 08-13-2007, 07:31 PM
I own a Chevy Silverado 2500 HD, I took it to the dealer with a front end noise complaint and they told me it was a loose hub, which they fixed. But they also said it had badly cupped tires witch it did, so I put new tires on. It still makes the noise. The noise is louder at lower speeds, especially when braking and coming to a stop. I also have new brakes so I don't suspect them. I have 265/75R16 tires and didn't notice the sound when I bought the truck, it's kind of a wa wa wa noise. Can anyone tell me if they've experienced anything like that before? taillight 08-14-2007, 08:20 AM If the tires were cupped, I think you have an alinement problem. Try a front end alinement. bobss396 08-14-2007, 11:58 AM How are the back tires? Can you isolate the noise to the front or rear for sure? Did the tires balance out ok? They sound like they're truck tires which sometimes need to be trued up to take the out of round condition out of them. Big tires need this done from time to time. Also the tread pattern can be aggressive and that adds to the noise factor dramatically. Cupped tires are often a sign of bad shocks or a severe tire balance problem. I would still go to an independent front end shop and get their opinion. Try to find one that caters to light trucks. Bob Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
