92 pathfinder won't startbyronb1 08-11-2007, 09:10 PM My 92 pathfinder 2.4 petrol won't start it cranks and has spark it also has petrol pumping at carbie side of filter. I have replaced the plugs and leads it still will not fire it aso seems to have petrol at throat is there a jet or needle in carbie that could be causing this ot has any one else experienced similar problems ? thanks ps it just stopped one day on a freeway going downhill no warnign noises no prior symptons of trouble ????? 88pathoffroad 09-03-2007, 02:41 PM AFAIK there were never carbs on any Pathfinder except a few rare exceptions in Saudi Arabia or UAE. They're either MPFI or TBI. I'd test the coils if you have the dual-ignition setup. Swap the coils and see if it runs that way first. pathfinderrs 10-21-2007, 09:18 PM I had some issues with my 99 pathfinder not firing, though it would crank. Everyone said either fuel, spark or compression. Spark: I took out a spark plug and placed it on the intake manifold and then cranked it to see if it sparked...it did..I tested a couple other plugs..and they too sparked. I ended up replacing plugs, distributor, cap and rotor for tune up anyways...as it needed it. Fuel: I turned lifted the rear seat and turned the ignition key to hear the whine of the fuel pump....all good. Filter was ok..I changed it only two years prior. Compression..I assumed should be fine. Nissan techi ended up saying it was the fuel injectors not receiving a pulse...which the fault of the relay..brown one. So they switched a relay and it worked fine. They checked my entire wiring for continuity from my fuel injectors to the ECU back to the relays and all was good. My suggestion is try the cheap and easy stuff first such as switching the relays and then trying to start. hope this helps and saves you money. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
