I,m so afaid it will not come out of park when I need it All help appreciated Thanks roann12 mpumas 08-11-2007, 10:12 PM What sort of problem are you having. Is it stiff? Is your P light lit when in park? Is this more of a problem when it is cold in the morning? When you press on the brake do you hear a clicking sound when in park? If you use the manual release on the center console, does it help? Tell us more so we can help you. roann12 08-12-2007, 06:28 AM HI It is stiff all the time, after running for awhile it is a little better. The light is lit when i start the car, no clicking when brake is pressed. It seems like all the time. It is driving me crazy. So glad i found this Forum, have been reading all, you guys are the greatest Thank you Hang in there with me, mechanic I'm not!!!!!!!!!!! roann12 jeffcoslacker 08-12-2007, 11:13 AM Does the '91 have a shift lock detent solenoid? (I don't remember) It will have the slot by the shifter where you put the key into it to unlock if it malfunctions... Does the detent button on the shifter press easy, or is it binding too? You'd be amazed how badly a little bit of sticky dried up soda or coffee can bind them up if spilled into the gear selector...I always look there first if it looks dirty. roann12 08-12-2007, 01:55 PM Yes it does have shift lock, it looks clean the detentbutton goesin ok, it is just so hard to get out of park It does not bind when pushed in. Thank you again also are the 91 accords known for leaking arounf valve gasket? I"m just a female who does not know much on cars. Just bought it 2wks ago mpumas 08-12-2007, 09:08 PM So when you push in the detent button is it is still hard to get out of park? I don't understand "It doesn't bind when pushed in". When in park, with the P light lit and you press on the brake you should hear the shifter solenoid click. If it doesn't. it could be the solenoid. If the P light is not lit when you try to shift out of park, it could be the shifter position switch. chubbygoatboy 08-12-2007, 10:21 PM Shifter cable, look on Ebay, but only use and original Honda part.
