What is the cheapest and easiest way to turn my 1997 Z28 Camaro into a really fast car? poormillionaire2 07-24-2007, 03:17 AM Nitrous philly rs 07-24-2007, 10:48 AM damn right, my exact words!! bottle fed maro= bad ass!!!!! ill have to send u sum video's of me rapeing innocent wanna be racers with my n2o maro..its so sweet!!!! Earlsfat 07-24-2007, 11:02 AM Gotta be careful with the gigglejuice, don't you? Otherwise it's not so cheap when you have to rebuild/replace it. philly rs 07-24-2007, 01:44 PM no more careful than u have to be with a procharger or a turbo..... if its built correctly than your all good baby! ZL1power69 07-24-2007, 02:57 PM i'd say start with a few supporting mods first like intake, 1LE elbow, 52mm TB, and a cat back exhaust. then go for the spray but keep the shot small, like 100 or so if the bottom end is stock. Mrs. Azrael 07-28-2007, 04:13 AM I would agree with all that is said above.. Nitrous is the cheapest, fastest way to get more power.. but.. as the last poster said.. you probably should start with some bolt on's.. suspension, rear end, built tranny, and then go for the bigger power mods.. I of course did not take my own advice.. I am still running on my stock rear end.. but with my HP.. I expect it to kill itself very soon.. LOL I am running a 175 shot of Nitrous.. but I have complete bolt on's, stage II heads, a big big cam, asp, full suspension, and a built tranny... Also as someone said, make sure you take it to someone who knows what they are doing, because it can become very expensive if it is not done right and you blow up your intake, or engine.. and make sure to get the car tuned for the nitrous.. so you dont end up with a lean spike.. which will end up causing something to blow.. Good Luck!!! philly rs 07-28-2007, 09:02 AM damn i like this chick!!!!! im in love!! :grinyes: Mrs. Azrael 07-28-2007, 11:33 AM damn i like this chick!!!!! im in love!! :grinyes: haha.. this chick has been working on and racin cars for 20 + years... most guys dont like me.. cause I drive a faster car than they do.. lol:grinyes: poormillionaire2 07-28-2007, 04:26 PM haha.. this chick has been working on and racin cars for 20 + years... most guys dont like me.. cause I drive a faster car than they do.. lol:grinyes: What type of rotating assembly are you running? Or do you still have the stock bottom end intact? Mr. Azrael 07-28-2007, 07:21 PM What type of rotating assembly are you running? Or do you still have the stock bottom end intact? Stock bottom end on her 2002 (LS6) block. Conservative tune running really rich on the spray to avoid the initial lean spike when her kit hits. I am sure if we gave it a few degrees of timing we could get more power, but even our tuner believes her car should be fine as is. She is not a total spray junky, and rarely sprays the car at all. The H/C/I/E part has her right at 440 rwhp through a built A4 with a 3400/2.2STR converter, which the LS1 should handle with no problems. We are setting money asside for a forged 347 with FI/Meth/N20, or a LSX block 441 N/A with spray. Just to verify for her though, she knows the bloddy knuckle syndrome and her smaller hands and stubborness have been excellent while going through 3 cam combos, and all of the other stuff we have done for the car. She takes pride in the fact that she has her battle scars from actually installing the parts and not just breaking a nail driving it to a speed shop somewhere. Of course she will always hate the weight of a 35mm front sway bar crashing down on her lip with a torque wrench to add a little impetus... Also I wish I had a recording of her while we cleaned the top of the block, and bolt holes for the heads; would have made a sailor blush! ikeyballz 07-28-2007, 09:41 PM hahah. sexy. you did more stuff to your car than i can ever do :P :feels manhood shrink: lol jk ;p i think its cool you do your own shit. much props to you.. i shall do that once i get a job..and stop being a stupid student with no cash ;[ daveshapellSVT 08-11-2007, 12:19 PM i'd get some headers, y pipe and catback. to start. then i'd get a throttle body, intake and under drive pullies. Mazdarider 08-17-2007, 03:19 PM A bigger gear always adds acceleration but makes you spin more, I changed my stock 3.42 gear to a 4.10 and noticed a lot of difference. daveshapellSVT 08-17-2007, 07:24 PM yea, but when you go with different gears you gotta think about gas mileage. 4:10 in my car would make my car cruise at like 3k rpms on the highway. Highest i'd go with on my car would be 3:73. just something to take into consideration. Mazdarider 08-17-2007, 08:01 PM I am assuming he has a six speed mine only turns about 2500 at about 65 Blue Bowtie 08-17-2007, 08:14 PM Define "fast" so you can get some better info. Some cars which might pace the quarter somewhere in the 10 second range only trap at about 130-ish, and struggle to break 160 in five miles. That's not "fast" to some people. Other cars struggle to click off the first quarter in 14 seconds, but top 210 after a couple miles. That's not "fast" to some other people. Which way do you want your "fast?" Lighter weight and more (temporary) power makes the first kind of "fast" while less drag and more (permanent) power makes the second kind. Little blue Viagra bottles don't help with the second kind of "fast" either. The gearing is completely different, too. hotrod_chevyz 08-17-2007, 08:48 PM What is the cheapest and easiest way to turn my 1997 Z28 Camaro into a really fast car? Press the skinny pedal to the right against the carpet... ikeyballz 08-18-2007, 07:09 AM lol, he hasnt been here forever.. and btw, it still wont go anywhere unless you let off the big fat pedal.. :D Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
