:banghead:
I've got a problem with my 2003 ford expedition not wanting to start. It tales a couple of times before it gets started. There are no check engine lights and no idle problems that i can tell. It doesn't appear to have any trouble starting on a full tank of gas (maybe it's just quincidence) it only starts having trouble at 1\2 a tank or so. I thought it just might be bad gas but have eliminated that possibility. Anyone got any ideas?

For last 4 months or so my Expedition has been hard to start. Sometimes it starts up right away and other times it takes 3-5 seconds of craking. I have had it to the dealer 3 times and they just tell me it starts fine. So, since I am not crazy:screwy: , it seems I must find the cause and cure myself:banghead: . I have tried fuel additive and high octane but no luck after a few tanks. So far I have had the air and fuel filters replaced. In researching on the web I have seen these possibles causes:

Try tune up with Ford Motorcraft Platimun plugs
Could be a check value related to the Fuel pump
May need to replace the IAC valve
clean the throttle
check for vacuum leaksI will try #4 and #5 first. If that does not work:rofl: , then will try a tune up.

We shall see if this fixes the hard starting problem with my Expedition.

I hope so :)

Mine turned out to be the fuel pump. Just wanted to let you know.

you might also want to try running some moisture remover through your tank(they sell it at just about any parts store)I believe its called HEEB or something like that. Fuel is not as heavy as water so if you let your vehicle sit for a while the water will settle near the bottom of your tank which is where the fuel pump picks up from. So the first few injections could be nothing but water then once you get some fuel in there your vehicle starts. Doesn't hurt to try, had one like this once ran that stuff through and it was fine afterwards.
