bashing a neonvectorspecialist 07-22-2007, 11:25 AM so i'm selling my 95 neon, sohc nothing special, sunroof,cd/am/fm, auto. and a woman calls and i know based on the questions she's asking that she's clicking kbb.com bs.(i hate them) anyways it has 50k on it, all original(except cd player/speakers) the car to them is valued at 2100 +/- 100. which is bull cause a civic with that milage is worth a bit more. more than the 2700 i'm offering for mine. y is it that the neon is rated as such a low price in comparison to cars in the same class that have the same types of problems? my neon will last as long as that civic or carolla or watever else. the neons are good cars, and damnit someone needs to make a fucking stand against all the bs that people say neons are POS's. that they have a life expectancy of 120k and thats it. it's a throw away car, this that and the other. wtf, this really is pissing me off G-man422 07-22-2007, 11:27 AM Its a fact that most (not all) neons (or american cars in general) are not as reliable or last as long as toyotas or hondas. Please dont take offense, just look at consumer reports. vectorspecialist 07-22-2007, 11:31 AM i dont think that they really are, please name me one problem that is known from an 03 honda accord.(i know of one, but they dont let that info out, the dealer said, honda stated" that's to expensive of a thing to recall, and that would ruin honda's reputation"(i don't much like honda's, toyota's are ok) this is wat kbb rated a 95 civic dx 4dr sedan at: fitting exactly what my car has Excellent $4,625 Good $4,235 Fair $3,735 G-man422 07-22-2007, 12:16 PM Also all cars have different resale values. For example mini coopers have a very good resail value, where as dodge durangos have a very low resale value. (it seems that domestic cars have a very low resale value). vectorspecialist 07-22-2007, 01:44 PM that's almost funny when u consider that neither are really domestic, neither the durango or mini are built in the usa. the older durango's actually had a lot of problems, i mean serious, not like the brakes wear too quickly, but engine/trans vectorspecialist 07-22-2007, 03:12 PM wats even funnier, in initial quality testing ford motor group won 4 out of 5 spots. and no, none of the mwere companies like volvo. for lincoln and mercury won. ikeyballz 07-23-2007, 06:13 AM yep.. right now, the american market is actually catching up in reliability. the american cars are 'more reliable' then germans... i think they had it ranked at japanese american german. kinda funny.. =P and i think its good american cars are valued low.. lets me buy em :]! btw, how much did you buy the car for? vectorspecialist 07-23-2007, 11:38 AM well back in 03 i payed 2400 for it, and the woman agreed to pay me 2800, so i made a profit. in a way, i spent money on it, but outright payment for it, i made 400 denisond3 07-23-2007, 04:29 PM I think Neons are excellent cars - especially if you are in a position to take the engine out about each 8 to 10 years or 100k miles, and replace the seals, timing belt, water pump, etc. The work isnt too hard, the parts arent expensive. Our family has two 87 dodge minivans with the 2.6L mitsubishi motor - another good machine if you can do some work yourself, like fiddle with the mikuni carb and replace the timing chain about each 120,000 miles. (Both of ours have well over 200,000 miles on them now - and are in daily use). By contrast, I have worked on Fiats, Lancias, Maseratis, Citroens, Renaults, and several makes of cars made in Britain; MG, Austin Healey, Singer, & Triumph. I have owned a Jaguar and a Rolls P-III and still own a prewar Bentley. None of these cars was really suitable for daily use....though they looked wonderful sitting in the driveway. vectorspecialist 07-23-2007, 06:04 PM yea butthink, some of the thing u said that need to b replaced on a neon, need to b replaced on every car at some point, the tune up. my stealth(a mitsu 3.0) needs it's tune up, i've yet to do it, but i'm in the middle of another problem with it. mopar or no car 10-15-2007, 08:09 PM neons are just as good a car, but forigne cars hold thier value better. i just got a neon for $50, try finding a honda roller for that. vectorspecialist 10-15-2007, 09:48 PM ok...i sold my 95 neon for 2400 bucks with 50,000 miles on it. i bought it 4yrs ago with 21,000 miles on it for that much vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
