Can you get the BMW X5 in a special color such as yellow?aliownzu 09-16-2001, 11:19 PM 1 DVSNCYNIKL 09-18-2001, 09:24 AM Anything is possible when you have..... http://www.imagestation.com/picture/p8509907e1d7f58f9912f24fd270be956/fe576ab8.gif :D :D Chris 09-21-2001, 02:17 PM To bad all SUV's suck, including this one. gang$tarr 10-01-2001, 07:56 PM Originally posted by Chris To bad all SUV's suck, including this one. that's not very nice, in your opinion you don't like them. Maybe somebody else does.... don't put them down for it if you're young, have a family and need room in your car, would you rather get a mini-van or an SUV? I'd take an SUV, the X5 is perfect... as much room as a mini-van, smooth car-like ride, and luxury, why not? Chris 10-03-2001, 04:09 PM Get a wagon. On average, they have more interior room , a better ride, better handling, and many are available with AWD, so, yah. gang$tarr 10-03-2001, 04:54 PM Originally posted by Chris Get a wagon. On average, they have more interior room , a better ride, better handling, and many are available with AWD, so, yah. well it's still the persons decision, you don't have to diss them for it he likes the X5, and IMO it's the best SUV out there for someone not doing any off-roading the 540i wagon is 15mpg in the city... and the 3.0 X5 is also 15mpg in the city... the 4.4 X5 is 13mpg not that big of a difference between the 540i wagon and the 4.4 X5... so fuel consumtion isn't much of any issue here. and if it is, get the 3.0, problem solved and i'm pretty sure that the X5 could get out of some bad situations alot better than a wagon... like mud or snow Chris 10-05-2001, 02:21 PM In my previous posts, I didnt mean to come off sounding like an ass, but I did. :( But the X5's tires are very similiar to a cars, and if a wagon is available with AWD, it would have the almost the same traction as the X5. And the X5 4.4 gets 12% or so worse mileage, which is significant (although not so much at this price) And if you dont need off-roading or towing (which the X5 is not suited to anyway, it is a unibody), get a car or AWD wagon. Thats my stance and I'm sticking to it:) crayzayjay 11-04-2001, 07:48 PM Chris, the X5 is a SUV unlike any other. its ride and performance actually shames many saloons.. It's press launch was at a race circuit, and it lapped the old Nurburgring (Nordschleife) (13miles) in 30seconds less than the E36 M3. Now that's fast. Supremely impressive car, you really shouldnt put it in the same sentence as other SUV's, its head and shoulders above the rest. My friend was extremely cynical about it, he hates all SUV's, but after driving it he was very keen to buy one, $$$ didnt allow it!! if youre gonna criticise it for anything, that should be it.. its too expensive.. other than that, believe me, its a great car. and IMO it looks great cheers jay Chris 11-04-2001, 08:05 PM I have already said the X5 was teh best SUV out there. The penalty is a lot of weight. Alas, I havent test-driven one. There, I said it. I will as soon as they will let me, so I can say I have seat time to back up my ideas. But I'm still going to stick with a wagon:cool: Like the RS4:D crayzayjay 11-05-2001, 08:14 PM But I'm still going to stick with a wagon Like the RS4 LOL :D :D However, BMW will produce a BMW X5M that will be built by Alpina.. i'd put a few bucks on that car giving the RS4 a run for its money;) cheers jay Chris 11-06-2001, 12:01 PM Where can I learn more about this X5?? (remember the X5LM, with the 700hp LeMans engine, that lapped the NUrburgring in under 8 minutes? That was crasy!!) gang$tarr 11-06-2001, 05:29 PM i saw that X5LM, it looked almost like a wagon when it was lowered like that :D crayzayjay 11-06-2001, 06:40 PM I haven't found any sites that give any worthwhile info about the X5M, i've only read about it in a few mags.. apparently BMW's Motorsport division, which has made ALL the M-cars up to now has lost out to Alpina, who will make the X5M. BMW looked at both divisions' offers and chose Alpina... i'm sure the boys at BMW Motorsport were pretty surprised at the decision :eek2:, and needless to say aren't too pleased with it  :zx11pisse :crying: --- The X5 LM lapped the 'Ring in 7mins49s  ... i cant remember the Porsche GT2's lap time but they're pretty close!! It was driven by Hans Stuck.. you'll find an article about it at this site: http://www.endurancesportscar.com/other.htm It reached 194mph , , and  again !!! 3mph off a 959 !!! that is simply unbelievable... you have to take your hat off to BMW, they've really achieved something amazing with the LM.. Here are a few pics cheers jay crayzayjay 11-06-2001, 06:44 PM rear view... crayzayjay 11-06-2001, 06:47 PM and finally here it is in action gang$tarr 11-06-2001, 07:21 PM how much does it cost to drive the N-ring??? ushir 11-07-2001, 09:51 AM Anyone know how much that X5M is supposed to debut for? crayzayjay 11-07-2001, 03:27 PM I'm not sure, but this is a very good site which you should definitely look at if you're serious about going. http://www.nurburgring.de/?lang=eng There was another site I visited a few days ago that's even better than this one, but I can't seem to find it anymore  The guy who owns the site owns an Mx5 and has lots of info/pics/advice.. you should try to find it on altavista/google, definitely worth a look cheers jay jinushaun 12-01-2001, 12:38 AM Amazingly, except for DVS, no one has stayed on topic!! Shame on everybody!! No, I've never heard of a yellow X5, but I agree with DVS, if you have the money, you can get it done. bmwworld 12-02-2001, 01:46 PM Back to the original question, in the US there is nothing like the M3's Phoenix Yellow for the X5. In other markets, you can get custom colors from the BMW Individual Program. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
