Will it fit? Perhaps. Will it last? Not a chance.

What silicon was hinting at is that the V-6 version possibly (likely) has only 5 clutch discs in the forward (3-4) clutch stack. The V-8 version will likely have 6, and really should have 7 clutch discs and steels.

So, your question can be answered with a qualified "yes" - The parts are the same, but one of the transmissions probably has more of them. There will likely be other subtle differences, and that's IF both transmissions are the same variety, i.e., if they were both designed for 4WD or 2WD.

UPDATE: transmission is fixed! it was pretty simple. i had no prndl lights, no tach, no speedo, and seemed like it was stuck in third...intermittently transmission would work with an engine restart. googled ignition switch. called the jobber and they actually had one in stock. all working good now!
