I have a 2000 Grand am GT1 4-door. I've been looking around for some aftermarket wheels/tires. I think I'm going with 18" but I want the tires wide enough so that the side of the tires are either even with the outside of the wheel well or extend just outside the wheel well. I've found some that are 18x7.5 and 18x8 but I don't know how they would look. I'm wondering if i should go for 18x9 wheels or not. If anyone has suggestions, ideas and maybe even pics that would be much appreciated.

thanx,
J

Hmm... I forget the website, ill have to look it up

vipey1337 was looking at rims at this particular site but I dont know what it's called...

once I find it ill post it

8-10" wide 17"rims w/ low pros would be better in my opinion for handling... you can do a lower suspension, and that'll look goood and handle well =)

wheelmax.com is a great place too. IMO wheelsl sticking out past your car is :gay: and ricerish... but if they are flush with your car, they are roxxor :p

I went to that wheelmax.com and the widest i found for my car was 18x7.5 with the tire size at 225/40/18, but I can get a custom tire size to maybe 245/40/18 to make it wider. How do you all think that would turn out?
Would it be a better idea to find wider rims like 18x8-8.5 with the 245 tires?

I put 20 inch rims on my 02 Grand AM GT they are 20 X 7.5 with a 225/35/20 tire and they fit perfect. No extra mods and no spacers.

If that helps any... (probably not but oh well...)

Oh yeah... when I first got them I tried a 245 but the outermost tread on the inside rubs on the bottom of the strut where the spring sits. unless you can modify that those don't really fit.
