01 grand caravan A/C fan problemsNik73 07-10-2007, 12:20 AM Hello My A/C front Fan only works on high. I replaced the conttrole unit and it started working for about 5 seconds and then went back to only working on high. Need Help:banghead: RickMN 07-10-2007, 01:11 PM The control unit? Do you mean you replaced the resistor block? if you replaced the block and it worked for a while and then burned out, that means you have a blower motor that's drawing too much current and is burning out the resistor block. Replace the blower motor and the block and the problem will go away. Nik73 07-10-2007, 03:50 PM It was the unit with the front and rear fan controles temperature controles and the on and off buttons. is that what you are calling the resister block RickMN 07-11-2007, 10:19 PM No, you replaced the control unit. You're supposed to replace the most expensive part last. I'm betting that your resistor block is fried. I'm not saying it couldn't be the control head, but the resistor is the most common failure point. Plus, it's the least expensive. SanDiegoDave 07-12-2007, 01:28 AM I have the same problem with the same year/model. Where is the resistor block located? I do not see it in my Haynes manual. Thanks. MAP3K 07-16-2007, 02:38 PM I have the same problem on my 03 Caravan. I too cannot locate the resistor block. chubbygoatboy 07-16-2007, 11:48 PM It is right behind the glove box. I am working on an 01. The blower quit completely. The fan works when hot wired, the fuse and relay are OK. The resistor control appears to have been replaced in 04. Any ideas? chubbygoatboy 07-17-2007, 11:25 PM Well, it turns out that Chrysler re-designed the resistor pack again. This is at least the third revision for a poor design. Put the new resistor module in again, and the fan works perfect!! bob02909 11-19-2007, 08:43 PM Re: 01 grand caravan A/C fan problems I have a 2001 Dodge Caravan (Sport). Cannot find the resistor block. Can I get to it through the glove box? Help, Bob vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
