My 97 Caravan intermittently stalls. The engine will restart right away or if the rpms are up when it happens it will come back on itself. No codes are being left in the computer. Any ideas?

My 97 kept dying with no codes and it turned out to be the fuel pump. Cost me $715 to get it towed and fixed. You might want to get the fuel pressure checked.

BTW, your fuel filter is inside the tank. Was it ever changed ?

The crankshaft and/or camshaft position sensors (CPS) may be starting to get flaky*. What is the dash behavior when this occurs?

*if PCM doesn't see a valid signal from CPS, it activates the automatic shutdown (ASD) relay, so your engine dies.

Looking at your dates, you had a 5 year old battery. I went through this recently where my van would stumble, then pick up again. Cleaned the battery terminals and it worked for a few months more. Then it began not starting until I moved the transmission lever in and out of park. Finally one night it just died. Once I replaced the battery, it worked fine again. These vans are pretty sensitive to low voltage.

My 1996 Voyager LE just up and quit on me suddenly..last week..after putting in a new battery and having a certified mechanic put in a new starter switch..my vehicle was towed home and I was informed that the motor was seized!

However my son in law(young backyard mechanic who owns his own old Caravan) went on a hunt for the fuse box...we found out that there was 2 fuse boxes in our van...sure enough the fuse that works for the crankshaft was blown(it was hiding under the seat) and now the van works great..there are somethings that arent told to unsuspecting buyers!

I am not sure if this will solve your problem..but would check if there is a second fuse box...maybe the fuse is going out?

GOOD LUCK!
