1990 Accord Water Pumpscorey 07-03-2007, 12:45 PM How to replace water pump on 1990 Accord, 4 cylinder wiseguy01 08-19-2007, 03:01 PM first you need one whole day and alot of patience.. tools required: impact gun& compressor 100gal. adequete tool set metric mainly 12mm 10mm 8mm 14mm 16mm. you have to remove valve cover and timing cover those require 10mm theres about 10 to 15 bolts i believe then that compressor you use to break the crank pulley loose motor mount has to be disconnected first to lower motor to allow impact gun in to break crank pulley bolt make sure the socket u put on bolt is tight fit. now after pulley is off then timing cover should come off may i remind u that timing cover is two parts. i like to use a floor jack to lower motor after motor mount is off. then u have to remove the timing belt tensioner to get timing belt off make sure you mark the tensioner where its at. and since u have to do all this work its better to replace tensioner and timing belt too trust me i know. you can pick it up at star or autozone cheap its called a timing belt kit or buy them seperate if u have too on the bottom crank check for timing marks there should be one on the block and the spindle that u took off the crank from line those marks up and do the same for the cam but the cam should havet three so u dont set timing 180 out. now dont think that because you didnt move the crank or cam the timing should be okay ur wrong remember the impact that causes the crank to jump ribs on the belt so either way the timing has to be set.. once u have everything out install the water pump with silicone i dont care how many people say not too use silicone they r not doing the work u are let stand for one hour before u run engine. after water pump is on just put everything back together the same way you took it off and when u tighten the crank go easy on the torque or youll make the belt jump ribs and offset ur timing hence the car wont start. well i have told you so goodluck and let me know if you have any problems. dont worry ive done about ten hondas already and i own a 93 accord so i know what im doing vBulletin®, Copyright ©2010, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
