Was driving yeterday and out of know where my 4.0 went to knocking, sounded mettalic. I stopped at gas station, checked oil level, it was fine. Cranked back up oil pressure was around 18 PSI at idle and with 237K miles actually pretty good. Shut car off again as it was still knocking at idle. Walked across street to shop and asked mechanic if he had time to listen to it. Probably 10 minutes went by. He walked across street with me, I started it up and......NO KNOCK...what in the world happened. I drove the car home about 40 miles, got in this morning drove 25 miles to work, NO KNOCK. Please help me understand what happened here...besides a miracle...Thank you and if it was a miracle...Thank you Lord

Could be the ac compressor. Mine was knocking before the compressor went and then stopped after the clutch fried.

You still have a dealer in your area? They all took off around here like a bat out of hell (Way to go GM). As I recall when I still had my Aurora the fans did stay on awhile when the engine was off on hot days. Also the fans will not come on till the engine needs cooling or the air is turned on. If all else fails try replacing the two relays 'A' & 'B' in the rt front underhood relay center.. The PCM controls the relays and the design on the 95’s is a strange series-parallel arrangement for low speed - hi speed.
