Engine swapboz 09-14-2001, 08:33 PM I have a Mercedes 240D and I am interested in knowing if anyone out there is familiar with any kind of domestic engine swap for this particular kind of vehicle. Thank you, Boz. Jay! 09-15-2001, 01:57 AM Do you mean that you want to put an engine from an American (I'm assuming that's what you mean by domestic) car into your Mercedes? boz 09-15-2001, 09:17 AM YES! I want to install an american engine in my Mercedes. I have heard of this being done with the chevy 350. I would like to use a V6, maybe olds 3.8 or chevy 4.3. You know anything? I figure if 190's can do it, 260's can do it too kathyAMG 10-08-2001, 08:33 PM I've seen it done. Older model MBs are easier to swap because of less electronics and the fact that the trannys, etc use the same basic concept from the tranny to the engine. The major problem would be to custom make engine brackets for the new engine. I personally wouldn't do it but to each her/his own. gang$tarr 10-14-2001, 09:53 PM why would you do that? why don't you get a german engine put in it? Lizard King 11-28-2001, 01:11 PM American engines are great. A domestic small block V8 will probably be lighter and get better fuel economy than those old MB engines, not to mention more scope of power. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
