I finally recieved my new short block for my 98 laredo. For what it's worth, the noise I was hearing was my #6 piston trying to disentigrate. Almost all of the skirt was in the bottom of my oil pan and the damage had all but reached the wrist pin. If anyone has any pointers on getting the engine back on the mounts and attached to the transmision please respond. I am using a chery picker for the operation and I know lining things up will be a pain. I was also told that I would have to take it to a mechanic to have the timing fine tuned... This is a new one on me as I figured I could just rotate and tighten down the distributor once I found a good idle. I marked the old distributor in two spots while the old engine was at TDC. Of course I had the head off so I don't know if I was on compression or not. Any advice or pointers on installing an engine are welcome. You can safely treat me like I have never done an operation of this magnitude before. I learn as I go and it is often the hard way.
