D16Y8 SOHC VTEC engineci5ic 10-29-2002, 12:25 AM Hey. Do any of you 5th & 6th gen owners know if there is a helms manual for the 98 EX online somwhere? I just got my D16Y8, and I'm starting to rebuild it and get it all cleaned up and prepped, but a helms manual would definitely come in handy... civickiller 10-29-2002, 05:11 AM why not just post this in the 4th gen forum, i think youd get better response there. why not just buy a helms manual, its alot easier cause you can have it out there while you are working on your car instead of always coming into the house to look up torque numbers shepworldwide 10-29-2002, 01:56 PM i would just buy 1.. you'll thank urself in the long run!! kicker1_solo 10-29-2002, 03:47 PM Originally posted by civickiller why not just buy a helms manual, its alot easier cause you can have it out there while you are working on your car instead of always coming into the house to look up torque numbers because the last I heard it was over $100, so it's a lot cheaper to get it online. And anyways, after he finds what he needs, he can print it out and take it out while he's working on his car. shepworldwide 10-29-2002, 03:54 PM Originally posted by kicker1_solo because the last I heard it was over $100, so it's a lot cheaper to get it online. I can just print it out at work... The reason I didn't post this in the 4th gen forum is because the D16Y8 is NOT a 4th gen engine, so if anyone knows of an online helms, I figured this forum would be the best place to start (cuz you know that if I posted this in the 4g forum, they'd be like "why didn't you post this in the 92+ forum?!"). Haynes and Chilton are mad lame... luti 10-29-2002, 10:52 PM It's nice to have the actual bound book, and its not over $100, its only $60 or $70. shepworldwide 10-30-2002, 07:16 AM Originally posted by ci5ic Haynes and Chilton are mad lame... so is being cheep! Melt 10-30-2002, 05:00 PM Originally posted by shepworldwide so is being cheep! $70 is a lot of money for a fucking book that can be had for free. Dont try to tell me if there were two gas stations right next to each other, and one was cheaper, that you wouldnt go to the cheaper one. Pleeeeeeaassse  :finger: RockChalk 10-30-2002, 08:24 PM www.helminc.com If you can afford to buy an engine, and you plan on doing any work on it, you must have one! I've never seen a Helm's manual online, probably because they are over 1000 pages. $60 > not knowing how to do any work on your engine LadyNRedSi 10-30-2002, 10:17 PM actually, there IS a 88-91 CRX haynes manual you can access or download for FREE online. mike, i haven't seen the y8 one. but if you do happen to find it, please let me know. i would love to have it :D shepworldwide 10-31-2002, 07:27 AM Originally posted by Melt $70 is a lot of money for a fucking book that can be had for free. I got my gas at gettys and it felt like absolute shit. And then I tried getting it at shell and fell in love with it. Same octane but 4 cent different and hey I'll pay that extra 4 cents for that better gas and whatever cleaner they add in there. Arachnid 05-11-2004, 12:51 AM what is the difference. just buy something so you'll have some kind of reference when you're out there doing your thang. i have a haynes and it works fine. please let me know if there is a big difference...then i'll go buy one! GScivic7 05-11-2004, 12:59 AM the difference is that this post is 2.5 YEARS old and no one really gives a shit anymore. Plus you can find .pdf files of pretty much every Helms manual online now, for free. Melt 05-11-2004, 01:34 AM plus the guy has already done the swap (i think) GScivic7 05-11-2004, 01:39 AM holy fuck, look who it is. You didn't happen to get an email about this post did you lol. krstofer 05-11-2004, 12:03 PM http://www.helminc.com/ I was looking at the site and was wondering how you know which manual to get. What's the difference between a shop and service manual? Is the shop manual more involved with more detail? I see the shop manual for 96-99 is sold out so I would guess that is more likely the one to get. Krs Melt 05-11-2004, 02:03 PM holy fuck, look who it is.
