do camshafts add a lot of HP to an 99' civic HX? do they even sell cams for the hx?? any links would be good, thanks!

the only thing your engine is ready for is a swap!
right now your $100 on your way to a new motor.
i myself drive an hx everyday and i myself want some hp also but the hx just isn't happening.. ,but i don't think they have camshafts for the hx.

what do you mean a $100 dollars away, and what have you done to ur HX??

He means spend the $100 it would cost you for the cam shafts towards a new motor.

I remember hearing that the hx is the economy civic. Is that right? If it is then that means the car is made for better gas milage and emmisions than horses. Quite frankly, its not made for racing

If you want to work on it, go for it! Its all up to you. But it may be incredibly difficult and expensive to make it fast.

yeah i know, it is the economy civic meant for better fuel management. how much would an engine swap be? and where would i go to try and find the motor?

doing a swap could cost you $500 to $5000....
if you don't know where to get a motor from do a little research thru this forum or look in the back of some mags and someone will have an ad..
just make sure the company is legit..
besides,having an hx you save money every day via gas....
if you want to do a mod slap some cheap ass intake on it.. i paid $25 for mine and now i recive $25 worth of smiles..another great investment would be a helms,hayes or chiltions manual..happy building

there is nothing you can do to that motor short of tearing it down rebuilding and measuring out every part of the engine, to make it faster. A motor swap is a good investment as well as a good idea in your case.
