92 Cutlass Supreme Turn Signal Switchnarsilshard 06-11-2007, 11:08 AM I turned my car on yesterday to find smoke coming from the steering wheel. After taking the steering wheel and horn pad off, I found that it was coming from the turn signal switch. One of the three contacts on the top sparks and smokes. Does anyone know what could cause this? At first I thought maybe just some grease or dirt got on it, but I cleaned it and sprayed it with contact cleaner. Also does anyone know what the individual contacts do? The top three are for one directional, but as it is just the middle contact could I insulate it or bend it up? Thanks for your help! Lars maxwedge 06-11-2007, 04:16 PM Replace it, it is shorted somewhere. XGamesJ6 06-23-2007, 11:27 PM my bros car did that, i replaced it, problem solved, my car had problems with the contacts and stuff didnt work right. 80 bucks for the part, couple hours labor if you take your time and do it right...there are two wires coming from the Key Switch that you have to take off the connector from the old turn signal switch, and put it on the new one. Its some rough work with the wires down the steering column but it can be done, just be patient. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
