*TWIN-PLATE Clutch Questions, HELP!!!mister2 10-28-2002, 06:22 AM I own a Toyota MR2 turbo and I recently installed a Clutchmasters Copper/Ceramic Twin-Plate clutch. I know I should be posting on the MR2 board, but there are hardly any mr2 owners with a twin plate setup. Well anyways, I have a few questions for you guys with a twin-plate clutch. I just want to know if these symptoms are normal or not. 1. When I push in the clutch pedal , I hear a whiring/scraping sound, but when i release the pedal, its gone. 2. When I push in the pedal, 1/4 of its travel feels normal, then it gets really, REALLY STIFF. 3. When i'm cruising IN GEAR above 3500 rpms and let off the gas (decelerate), I get this sound thats hard to describe, but it sounds similar to really harsh road noise. 4. Whenever I leave from a stoplight, or shift into another gear, I get a squeeling sound when the clutch engages. 5. Whenever I downshift from any gear, I get a loud metal screeching sound (a different sound than the one stated in #4) I haven't had any experience nor am I knowledgeable with these type of clutches, if any of the above isn't normal, what do you think is causing it??? I'd really appreciate all the help I can get. JWatson 11-02-2002, 02:42 PM Sounds like the clutch discs were installed wrong. Are you using a stock flywheel?
