1994 toyota code 71

I am the one that just had the timing chain problem and got it fixed....now my truck is coming up with code 71 egr system problem.Anyone know where i should start with this code as far as fixing it.Any help is appreciated.

First, make sure that the EGR valve is getting vacuum.
If the vacuum line is in good shape you should feel vacuum increase as you rev the engine (at operating temp.).

If there is no vacuum being supplied to the EGR valve , check out the EGR solenoid for proper operation or a vacuum leak/supply issue.

If the vacuum supply to the valve is ok, apply vacuum to the valve directly with a Mityvac type tool, or if all else fails, just hook up a longer vacuum hose and suck on it. The engine should sputter and/or stall at idle when you do this. If there is no RPM change you have a bad EGR valve.
