I just purchased an orange 2003Tony_Ensemble 10-27-2002, 11:14 AM I went to a dealership to purchase a 360 spyder and I came out owning a Murciélago. If there are any questions I can answer for anyone, I would be happy to help. I could also take pics if anyone is interested. Menu dei Motori 10-28-2002, 03:43 AM congratulations! the spyder would have been nice, too why don´t you buy both? :D JESUS28 10-28-2002, 07:35 PM Dear Tony_Ensemble, Firstly, let me thank you your kindness showing your interest to help all forum users about to know more details about the Murciélago. In fact, you have bought the most wonderful machine ever conceived! I always dreamed to buy one and I am thinking very seriously to order one in one or two years, if the profit results of my company let me do so, of course :) Anyway, I have some questions for you I hope would help a lot of users of this forum, which have some dudes (like me) about this amazing car! I will appreciate you reply me this questions which I am deeply sure will help all of us. 1) EXPERIENCING THE MURCIELAGO GEARBOX In normal cars, when you are entering the first speed in the gearbox you must proceed carefully pressing the clutch, if you do not do it correctly, the engine could get stopped. I am a bit worried about this and the Murcielago. Actually the ferrari models includes sequential gearbox like F1 cars, so it is impossible the car could get stopped when entering the first speed, due there is no gearbox and all the process is automatic. Driving a Murciélgo is always a big responsibility due all people think that an owner of this awesome car have driving skills similar to a professional pilot. So, I do not want to imagine a situation like a Murcielago waiting in the street the trafic light get "green" and then, when entering the first speed ... if you do not press correctly the clutch, the car getting stopped! This situation could be acceptable in other cars, like a Wolkswagen, but if you experience this situation having this car on the street probably all people gets smiling. No way ! Please, could you indicate us your experience driving the car on normal street conditions and if Murciélago's clutch is special to avoid this situations or in the contrary the car could get stipped if you do not press correctly the clutch when entering the first speed? 2) WHAT IS THE USE OF THAT ARROWS NEAR THE MURCIELAGO GEARBOX <| |> What they do exactly? 3) INSURANCE COMPANIES Find an insurance company that provides you a good product for a car of this kind is very difficult. Could you indicate us how many cost to maintain the insurance costs of this machine yearly? 4) TECHNICAL MAINTENANCE I am from Spain, the country which inspires this amazing car and here unfortunately we do not have technical services of Lamborghini. I sincerely do not understan what is the commercial policy of Lamborghini, promoting his cars are based about Spanish bulls calling to values of strength and speed and then having no commercial presence here. In fact, I think this situation is very unfortunate due the most near technical service for Spanish users are in Lisbon, Portugal (a company named SIVA). Anyway, could you indicate us how many cost to maintain the car yearly ? I am talking about a normal and routinary maintenance, like filters changing and the normal kilometers or miles revisions. By example: A Modena could cost around 1000 $ US Dollars or 1100 € Euros. 5) LAMBORGHINI NAVIGATION SYSTEM Please, if you have this equipment, could you talk us about it? I have saw some pics, and I have found it a bit simple, due it do not have a color screen able to show a map like in other cars. Please, could you indicate us how it works? is it voice controlled or indicates you the right direction to take using a speech system? 6) LAMBORGHINI ROUTINE WASHING Normal machines to wash cars, like the ones of the gas stations could damage very seriosly the color termination of the car. Due the have a lot of plastic ribbons rotating to high speed, with the time the color of the car lost its brightness and even if you see near the chassis you can observe it is clawed! What system do you recommend to wash the car? A hand washing is not always possible, specially when the car have received dust or even tar of the highway. Do you recommend high pressure water systems? like Kartcher systems to wash the car using water in high pressure? 7) AWESOME DOORS IN NORMAL LIFE Could you share with us your experience about using this amazing doors in normal life. It seems to be a bit complicated to enter and get out of the car? Or in the contrary do you find it easy and exciting? 8) PEOPLE FACES AND REACTIONS WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING YOUR MURCIELAGO. I am sure all forum user want to dream about driving this car. Please, could you share with us any anecdote about street people when see you are driving your awesome machine? Finally, I am very sorry for the big extension my inquiries, but I think they could help a lot of users here. Again, thank you for your kindness Menu dei Motori 10-29-2002, 10:23 AM hi jesus for your first question i don´t have a answer but a tip before you buy that car you should make a test drive (i don´t know if it is possible) the <> arrows are for lifting the suspension when you want to enter a garage for example the other questions i´m sure tony will answer! greets Marius JESUS28 10-30-2002, 08:45 AM Hi Marius, Due I am interested to buy one I was worried about this topic you haindicated: do a driving test to became owner of a Murciélago. So, I was contacting the Club here in Spain, in Marbella, and they clearly tell me: NO. Is not necessary to do a driving test here in Spain to became owner of a Lamborghini Murciélago. The only you need is the money. In fact, they told me Lamborghini cars are easy to drive in normal driving street coditions and they emphasize me "is not necessary to do any driving test or show any skill", the only you need is the money. The club have a customer service which helps you to find the Lamborghini of your dreams (new or used) in any world place and they have technical service since last year (but I guess it is not a real technical service... like companies devoted to Lamborghini) Summarizing, is not necessary to pass any test or demonstrate any skill driving the car. Almost, in Spain is not necessary. I unknown if there in USA or in other countries it is, but here is not. Was ferrari's brand prepotency which demand to their user who desires to own certain special models to pass a driving test showing their skills. I have understood they are not doing this test anymore due the failure of their clutches (-joke-) :) I thought was necessary to quote this information about do not pass any test, because it could be of help to future users. Thank you Raging Bull 11-02-2002, 12:38 PM I think he meant do a test drive to test the car for yourself, so you get a feel for how it drives and if you feel comfy driving it. Tony_Ensemble 01-10-2003, 09:57 PM I think every person is different. I tend to be impulsive. I like to be that way. I flew to a diffferent state just to purchase a certain Diablo. I walked out an hour later the owner of a Murcielago. My wife on the other hand like to deliberate. But I have observed that it doesn't seem to make her any more happy about her purchases. So why agonize? Menu dei Motori 01-11-2003, 05:51 AM well tony buying a car is a really impulsive thing and it really makes you happy IMO Tony_Ensemble 01-11-2003, 04:36 PM True, Menu. Tony_Ensemble 01-27-2003, 05:20 AM Ive always liked Orange Diablos like Tony_Ensemble 01-27-2003, 05:22 AM Or perhaps Tony_Ensemble 01-27-2003, 05:23 AM Or even Tony_Ensemble 01-27-2003, 05:30 AM So this was a natural when I decided to buy Lamborghini. A tribute to Jesus Menu dei Motori 01-27-2003, 09:38 AM after i have seen yours, the orange also became my favourite colour! good choice! did you order your car new? or was it a used one tony? Doucette 01-27-2003, 12:27 PM Originally posted by Tony_Ensemble Ive always liked Orange Diablos like Me too. I think this is the GTR. I love it. Do you own any Diablos too, Tony? TexasF355F1 01-27-2003, 02:26 PM Yes, orange is definately one of my favorites for the Lambo's. But on all Lambo's the color has to be seen in real life to truely experience how amazing the paint really looks. Tony_Ensemble 01-27-2003, 10:17 PM It was brand new when I got it. I couldn't find a pearl orange metallic Diablo. So I was going to buy a black one and have it painted orange. Then I saw them unloading the orange Murcielago off the truck. And after a testdrive I couldn't deny the incredible performance and driveability. (I bought it and it is my first Lambo) I still think that orange Diablo with the black wing is one of the baddest looking cars ever. TimSalewsky 01-28-2003, 01:04 AM Have you ever seen that Diablo GT in person, Tony? I saw it at the Chicago Auto Show a couple of years ago along with a regular 6.0VT of the same color. The VT looked amazing, which I had seen first. I came around the corner and saw the GT. WOW! Barnone the prettiest paint job I had seen in my life was on that orange GT. Your orange Murcielago looks beautiful in pictures, I am curious to see what one would like in person. I've read a few bad remarks about the Verde Ithaca(Fluorescent Green) and I agreed until I saw it in person. It's a very sweet looking car. It kind of seems like the softness of the paint doesn't come across on pictures very well if the camera isn't really good. Doucette 01-28-2003, 08:52 AM http://www.crazypics.de/wallpaper/autos/lamborghini/lamborghinimurcielago_3_1024.jpg I love these cars. BTW, some paint jobs just cannot be captured by a still picture. I have never really seen a picture do a sports car justice. Tony, did you ever shoot any videos of your car yet? Tony_Ensemble 01-28-2003, 09:15 AM I'm still planning to shoot my video but I have to wait for the right conditions. Sorry about the early promise and the long wait. jsb88 01-28-2003, 09:20 AM Don't worry we have some time on our hands :) Can't wait!!! :) JESUS28 02-05-2003, 02:39 PM Tribute gathered! :D Is ironic my company being a pharmaceutical company don't sell drugs, just non-prescription pharmaceuticals. Orange Lamborghinis are really nice. Sometimes I personally dislike the green color, the green from Lamborghini remembers me the pistachio's colour... however some times you see the colour and is nice... a strange colour, nevertheless. Yellow is the best colour for me, the lines can be observed and the beauty of the car could be appreciated easily. A sport colour. Orange is the mixes elegance, tradition and sport passion. A typical Lamborghini colour as black is. Black is misterious, really nice, but the car's beauty cannot be observed well... and... GOLD is very pretentious but... what the hell! is the best, it really rocks! Anyone here have pics from a Gold Murciélago? SHARE PLEASE! Especially if you get the K40 hidden detector, now thats nice. The radar will help in the Gumball somewhat as well. Tony_Ensemble 02-08-2003, 08:28 PM [K40 hidden detector] Is that the best detector out now? Do you know anything about jammers. I dont even know if they are legal. I've never used either. Any info would helpful. TexasF355F1 02-08-2003, 08:42 PM I've never had a K40, but from all I've read the K40 is the best detector on the market and the only one that you can buy that's hidden. I have a $250 Cobra radar with compass and voice commands and love it, saved my ass on many occasions. I've had it for 3 years with no problems. As for jammers, I'm pretty sure I heard that they are illegal, I'm not 100% positive about this, but it makes sense that they would be and swear I heard it on the news. Tony_Ensemble 02-08-2003, 09:57 PM I found this article about 2003 remote detectors form RadarTest.com [about the remote radar detector market] ...This has traditionally been a small market, usually consisting of no more than three models from as many manufacturers. But competition has been heating up of late and today the field is made up of no fewer than five models. (We're purposely leaving out K40 whose ancient, overpriced remotes we've savaged in past tests for their utter lack of features, endless false alarms and user-unfriendliness. The company claims to have a new model on hand, the 2000P, but it's little different from the UN700 model that ranked dead last in our past tests and thus, we're not punishing K40 by again mentioning it here.)... I'll let you know which one the article likes when I finish reading it. -Tony Tony_Ensemble 02-08-2003, 10:26 PM If you are willing to pay out the wazoo ($1500) the winner in the remote radar detector market (according to RadarTest.com) is the Escort Passport SR7. Its got it all. The best Ka detection. Laser jaming. Etc. The review did like all of the models. They ofter a range of preformance at a range of prices. Link to article: http://www.radartest.com/article.asp?articleid=1048 See the chart below. XOTech 02-09-2003, 12:27 AM I use the Valentine1 exclusively. I have used and tested others through the years, but have found the Valentine1 to be the best by far. I am aware of a McLaren owner that had one built in to his car. He is also quite satisfied with the unit. There are several tests in top magazines to support the ranking. Car and Driver did a test mid 2002 as I recall. When one is travelling at upwards of 3 times the legal speed limit, the longest range of detection of the police radar is critical to say the least. I have had countless warnings that at extremely high speed that have saved my bacon. To the point that I have undoubtedly avoided certain jail time. That is the extent of my vote. I will give credibility for no other unit. I currently have only one, but I will be buying one for each car. One spare are a minimum. Menu dei Motori 02-09-2003, 01:53 PM sorry guys maybe my words sound too cruel everyone can make and makes faults ;) Tony_Ensemble 02-09-2003, 06:05 PM Especially stupid people. ;) Sean 02-09-2003, 08:19 PM You have to admit, that's not the worse case scenario in terms of mislabled stuff on KaZaA. :apuke: SilverLotus340R 02-09-2003, 08:33 PM stupid people is to say the least... i have a question about radar detectors though..what kind of time does the V1 give you when it goes off?? does it tell you if the cop is within so many miles or what? cuz i mean if it goes off 2 seconds before you get to the cops than it wont do you any good... 100 - 0 in 2 seconds would be quite extreme.. Tony_Ensemble 02-09-2003, 09:53 PM Silver, This is a chart off the V1 website so take it with a grain of salt. But it is from Car and Driver so its probably valid (if not taken out of context). This is what I understand from researching this last night, (but no practical experience): The sensitivity is important. Most of the high end detectors have signal strength indicators for helping you figure out how far away the police are. As you can see from the chart the V1 is the most sensitive. The kicker is that according to many reviews the V1 may be too sensitive giving you more false alarms. A radar detector is only useful if you are able react to the alarm appropriately. Too many false alarms cause you to tune out the sound of the alarm. The V1 is still considered one of the very best. Escort Passport SR7 got very good grades regarding false alarms. The K40 got a poor performance review in the article above. But the K40 is the only detector that installs invisably into your dash. This is a complex installation that requires you to drill holes into your dash to mount little lights. Ive seen it in TXGreenLambo's Murci and it looks awesome. Youd never no anything was there. Hope this helps. -Tony SilverLotus340R 02-10-2003, 07:43 PM thanks tony! have you gotten any tickets in the murcielago yet??? or have you had any cops pull u over to see the car? i know a guy fromPA that has a ferrari and that happens everywhere he goes...he is always having to stop so someone can see the engine or smell the italian leather and so forth..crazy ppl Tony_Ensemble 02-10-2003, 10:32 PM No tickets One pull over and see XOTech 02-13-2003, 01:19 AM The Valentine has been tested over and over as being the most sensative and gives you the longest range of detection, therefore the longest time to react. As for falsings, I have used several detectors, Uniden, Passport, Escort, Bell, K40 and others. Some work better than others, but even with regard to falsings, the Valentine gave me the least false warnings. All the others literally drove me crazy with falsings. The Valentine has 3 different filters you can use depending on where you are driving. If you drive in town a lot, I would suggest using the highest filter that automatically removes the frequencies typically used for automatic doors, security systems, and also filters out interference from other cheap radar detectors that may be close to you or passing by. I use my Valentine in town and on the open road. I choose to use it in the full unfiltered mode all the time. I have trained myself to discern the difference when I should be watching and when I can ignore it. It has become second nature to me, but I am still aware of critical falsings and how often I am warned in time to catch my speed before detection. The K40 has the slight benefit of obscurity, but the Valentine offers a covert option that leaves the unit on the window where you want it, but the chord plugs into a stealth unit that completely blacks out the unit and the remote screen down at the cigarette lighter displays all the necessary information. I have one. I love it. When it comes to enough time to get back to legal speeds, I will pass on all the obscurity for a split second more time to slow down. Depending on how fast your car is and how fast you drive it, the next improvement you will need are better brakes, to slow down quicker. :) Tony_Ensemble 02-13-2003, 10:22 AM Thanks XO Why is the unit best placed on the window as opposed to ones that mount on the front and rear grill? Do you know if anyone mods radar detectors to make them more obscure? TexasF355F1 02-13-2003, 11:41 AM Although I may not be totally correct on this, I am thinking it is better to have the radar in the window, b/c it is at a high level of 'sight'. This in turn will allow for greater distance and be more in the general range of where the radar will be angled to. XOTech 02-13-2003, 09:48 PM Texas, the high in the window is indeed the best place to put any radar detector. Tony, to make it more hidden, there are a few tricks. To hide the lights from people behind you, simply use the stealth unit that makes the main unit dark and the lights display on the remote unit at the cigarette lighter. If that isn't enough and you would still like to hide (as best as possible) the unit on the windshield, something I have done on previous vehicles is to mount a small bent piece of aluminum that makes use of some existing skrews in the rear view mirror, or a roof console, or even window trim. The aluminum bracket is made in such a way that I can mount the Valentine to it where it is very high (best for sensativity) and out of my range of vision, but still easy to see the display and I can still remove it if I want to. Not to mention that it is high enough that people looking in never even see it. Most of my passengers don't even see it until it makes noise. To eliminate the recoil chord, you can buy a "hard line" that doesn't coil. I completely hid mine behind the headliner, and down the A-pillar inner trim pieces, under the dash to the cigarette lighter and hard wire it in there. That way there isn't even a plug. But if you want to use the stealth unit, you will have to have the hard line that has the traditional small RCA-type jack on it that you can plug into the stealth unit. That is precisely what my McLaren owner friend did with his car. Not to mention that he had a special carbon fiber panel made the blend the headliner into and around the Valentine. It was finished by covering it in matching Alcantara (leather suede material). Just some ideas. I haven't done this to my current vehicles, but have in the past. It works great. Tony_Ensemble 02-13-2003, 10:12 PM Cool thanks XO. I'm gonna go take a look at my car now to see how it might work. -Tony lotustt 02-14-2003, 03:42 PM Tony sounds like you run a great company. Microsoft must have paid you a pretty penny to get a hold of it!... Good job with all your work tom Menu dei Motori 02-15-2003, 12:34 PM i just found out that it´s alowed in germany it´s a grey zone. what does the Valentine one cost in america? here in germany i found a dealer. more than 1000€=1000$ it´s in a acryl box and should be installed and should be installed fix. inclusive Concealed Display Modul, Remote Audio Adaptor and instsalling material. again.. what does it cost in america? texas360modena 02-15-2003, 02:53 PM Whoa, thats way too expensive  They usually cost about 400 dollars in america. Tony_Ensemble 02-16-2003, 08:43 PM Ive seen signicficant variations in price. The base unit (like TX360 says) is about $400 but i beleive there are lots of parts necessary if you want to conceal it completely. Here is a site that offers the V1 with installation kits. http://www.1-radar-laser-jammers-detectors.com/valentine1-radar.html Their site is a little confusing. They sell the completely hidden installation kit for $400 and the the V1 with the kit for $795. This is the only place I could find a completely hidden V1 installation kit. I dont know why it cost so much though. I like the idea of a completely integrated and hidden installation. The k40 offers that but its not as good a detector. However TXgreen uses the k40 and likes it. Menu dei Motori 02-17-2003, 08:57 AM i probably have to buy the v1 for 1000 because it´s a special one for european market. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
